CORBIN DILLON, president
Corbin Dillon, trumpet, whose teaching experience spans over 11 years and ranges from beginners through the twelfth grade, received his bachelor’s degree in Music Education from The University of Texas at Austin where he studied with Raymond Crisara. For the next five years he was an Assistant Band Director at Seguin High School in Seguin Texas, where he taught concert, marching and jazz bands as well as beginning music classes. He received his Masters of Music from the University of New Mexico where he studied with Dr. John Marchiando, Principal Trumpet of The New Mexico Symphony Orchestra. Corbin has appeared with The New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra, and the new music ensemble "Chatter".
BILL MATHIS, vice president
William H. Mathis is Minister of Music and Fine Arts at the Hennepin Ave. United Methodist Church in Minneapolis. In addition to his work at church, Bill is an active clinician in both the choral and handbell fields, giving special emphasis to teaching rehearsal technique and musicianship. He has served ACDA as a state board member in both Oklahoma and Minnesota. He has been the conductor of AGEHR’s National Festivals and Directors' Seminar, as well as many events at the local and regional levels, and is a long-time board member and leader in AGEHR. He is the founder and music director of the Twin Cities community handbell ensemble, Bells of the Lakes, a group noted for its dual focus of performance and education. His compositions are found in the catalogues of thirteen publishers.
MARTIN HODEL, secretary
Martin Hodel is Associate Professor of Music at St. Olaf College, where he has been teaching since 1997. He has performed as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player in the US and around the world. Currently an extra and substitute player, he played full time in the trumpet section of the Minnesota Orchestra for the 2005-06 season. As Principal and Solo Trumpet with the Eastman Wind Ensemble, Hodel toured the U.S. and Japan, and he has toured coast to coast in America with the Dallas Brass. In June he premiered Eric Ewazen’s Concerto For Trumpet and Orchestra (an orchestration of the Sonata) with the St. Olaf Orchestra in Spain. He has also shared the stage with jazz artists Joe Henderson, Maria Schneider, Slide Hampton, Claudio Roditi, David Murray, and Jimmy Heath, and has toured Germany with organist Bradley Lehman as part of the Hodel-Lehman Duo. A CD by the Duo, In Thee is Gladness, recorded in Emden, Germany has been released on Larips Records. Hodel appears as a soloist on eight other compact discs, has performed live on the nationally-broadcast radio program, A Prairie Home Companion, on Minnesota Public Radio, on public television, and on national broadcasts of the radio programs Sing for Joy and PipeDreams. Hodel holds a doctorate in trumpet performance and a Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music, a master of music from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a bachelor’s degree in music education from Goshen College.
JUSTIN WINDSCHITL, treasurer
Justin Windschitl is an attorney with the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. He holds a Juris Doctor from the University of St. Thomas and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2002 from St. Olaf College. In addition to serving as a freelance bassoonist in the Twin Cities, Justin has performed with the Minnesota Orchestra, Houston Symphony, Eastern Philharmonic, and as principal bassoon of the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra. Justin is an active chamber musician, performing regularly with the Pavia Wind Quintet, Park Avenue Wind Quintet, Midway Bassoon Quartet, and in collaboration with musicians from the Minnesota and St. Paul Chamber Orchestras. His primary bassoon instructors include Mark Kelley and Norbert Nielubowski, both members of the Minnesota Orchestra.
